Nigeria commits to police reform

Nigeria ’s Government has promised to address the challenges of inadequate funding, training and other problems facing the Nigeria Police Force.

The Network on Police Reform in Nigeria, NOPRIN, a network of 49 civil society groups spread across the country to promote police accountability and respect for human rights, has called for an urgent review of all past presidential and civil society committee reports on the reformation of the force.

The above video shows a panel discussion on ‘Police Leadership’ on Nigeria’s TV Continental. The interactive television program – “Promoting Police Reform Through Media” – is sponsored by the NOPRIN Foundation with support from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the Washington, DC-based democracy assistance group.
